The Speedy Trial Tribunal in Barisal, Bangladesh, sentenced Sultan Hawlader, a 35 year old resident of Bhabanipur village in Babuganj, to death and sentenced four of his family members to life imprisonment after convicting them of murder

The Speedy Trial Tribunal in Barisal, Bangladesh, sentenced Sultan Hawlader, a 35 year old resident of Bhabanipur village in Babuganj, to death and sentenced four of his family members to life imprisonment after convicting them of murder. Those given life imprisonment were Hawlander's father Abdur Rob Bepari, mother Lalful Bibi and brothers Mohammad Dulal and Mohammad Saeed, both of which were sentenced in absentia. According to the prosecution, the convicts attacked and injured Humayun Kabir, a student of Islamic History at Brojo Mohon College, and his family members -- Ismail Hawlader, Jalal Master and Sattar Master -- on April 30, 2002 following a dispute over land. Humayun died on his way to hospital.
