Mohammad Nurul Huda, a judge of the Bangladeshi Divisional Speedy Trial Tribunal Court, handed down the death penalty to Jahangir Alam Khokan, 40, of Faridpur, Rashidul Islam Sagar, 30, of Munshiganj and Kaiyum, 36, of Rajbari district. Kaiyum was tried in absentia. The court also fined them Tk 20,000 each. According to the prosecution, Mobarak Sarkar, 30, from Char Syeedpur village of Narayanganj district, went missing from Muktarpur ferry ghat on April 11, 2007. His body was found in a pond at Paragaon in Srinagar upazila two days later. The convicts, also business partners of Mobarak, killed him as he decided to withdraw his money from the business and end his partnership with them, the court said.
