a special court in Laxmipur, Bangladesh, convicted a man and sentenced him to death for murdering his wife in 1999. The convict was identified as Abdul Malek, 35, of Char Jangalia village in Ramgati upazila. According to the prosecution, Malek chopped his wife Nahar Begum to death following a family feud at his house on the night of January 21, 1999. After examining the records and witnesses, M Mujibul Kamal of the Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal pronounced the guilty verdict.
