A Rangpur court sentenced a youth to death for throwing acid on a schoolgirl.
Rangpur District and Sessions Judge Manjurul Basid handed maximum penalty to Ariful Islam, 25, while his two associates Alal Miah and Dulal Hossain got life sentences.
Two more accused, Arefin and Saddam, have been acquitted.
Each of the convicts has been fined Tk 100,000. The court has ordered the money to be given to the victim.
Masuda Akhter was left blinded after the attack on the night of Aug 13, 2012. She was a ninth-grader of Samajkallan Biddyabithi School who lived in Dakkshin Babukha.
