Belgian Foreign Minister Louis Michel said he is determined to take action against suspected Rwandan genocide suspects but will not extradite them because Rwanda continues to impose the death penalty. "With people who have been accused of horrible crimes we cannot keep them here without making sure justice can be done, but we will not extradite them to countries where the death sentence still exists," said Michel. African Rights, a London-based human rights group, accused members of Belgium's Catholic clergy of protecting two Rwandan nuns allegedly responsible for thousands of deaths during the 1994 genocide in Rwanda. The group urged Belgian judicial authorities to prosecute them.
