British defence Secretary Geoff Hoon expressed doubts about whether Saddam Hussein should face the death penalty after his trial in Baghdad. In an interview, Mr Hoon said he was 'morally, philosophically and practically opposed to capital punishment', although he added that any decision on Saddam's sentence was for the Iraqi judicial system to make. 'We have made our views clear, and we do not think they should execute Saddam Hussein,' said Mr Hoon.
