Bulgarian Foreign Minister Solomon Pasi and Libyan Foreign Minister Abd al-Rahman Muhammed Shalqam discussed the case of the six Bulgarian medics facing the death penalty in Libya on charges of deliberately infecting 393 Libyan children with the HIV virus.
The meeting was requested by Minister Pasi and was held on the sidelines of an international conference on "Civilization and Harmony: The Political Dimension" in Istanbul.
"My Libyan colleague assured me that the Libyan Court will pass a fair and impartial judgment," Pasi said.
"This is still a complicated case. It is by no means closed. In my opinion, it will be a really great success if the court does not pass the most severe verdicts which have been demanded," Pasi said.
The trial resumes on February 17.
