Chairman of the State Duma Security Committee Vladimir Vasilyev said the country should not hurry with the annulment of the death penalty moratorium. "I'd rather not hurry," he said. Vasilyev said he had objected to the abolition of the death penalty. "But the decision was made and we must keep to it," he said. Russia is in the process of integrating into the international community, and "many doors will close to us" if the moratorium is annulled, he said.
