Chandrasekar, 46, was sentenced to death by a fast track court after being convicted of beheaded his son, Shanmugam, with a hacksaw on September 3, 2001, following a quarrel over the latter's inability to find a job. "It is a cold-hearted and ghastly murder. We should not show any sympathy to him. It is inhuman, an irresponsible father murdering a dutiful son," observed fast track court judge G. Savithri. "He shall be hanged by neck till death," she said, adding that the sentence was subject to confirmation by the High Court.
