CHINA. CHILD TRAFFICKING RING CRACKED, MAN SENTENCED TO DEATH

a Chinese court sentenced one person to death and jailed nine people for running a child-trafficking ring in the prosperous southern province of Guangdong. The gang had kidnapped 38 children, mostly from crowded markets, and sold them between 2001 and 2004. While many of the children had been tracked down, the whereabouts of 12 were still unknown.  The report did not name the convicts.
