Zhang Degang, 33, was sentenced to death with a two-year reprieve for the September 8, 2010, robbery of a hypermarket in Minhang District, worth 1.01 million yuan, the Shanghai No. 1 Intermediate People's Court was told. The court ruled that Degang's personal property be confiscated and ordered him to pay compensation for the 2 kilograms of gold items still missing.
