in China, Shanghai's High Court confirmed the death sentence imposed on the city's most notorious criminal gang leader. Li Bin was sentenced to death on October 24, 2006, by the Shanghai No.2 Intermediate People's Court, the Shanghai Evening Post reported. Today's High Court's decision was the final legal pronouncement on Li's case which will now be submitted to China's Supreme Court for approval. Prosecutors alleged Li and his gang had bought and sold more than 10 kilograms of amphetamines and more than 5,000 ecstasy tablets between April 2003 and April 2005. Li also engaged his gang in online gambling, which brought in almost three million yuan (US$ 393,700).
