Liu Zhixiang, a former railway official in China’s Hubei Province, was sentenced to death with a two-year reprieve for good behaviour after being convicted of conspiring to injure a man, embezzlement and bribery.

Liu Zhixiang, a former railway official in China’s Hubei Province, was sentenced to death with a two-year reprieve for good behaviour after being convicted of conspiring to injure a man, embezzlement and bribery.
The Yichang Intermediate People's Court found that Liu, former deputy director of the Wuhan Railway Sub-administration and station master of Hankou Railway Station, conspired with another man to assault former business partner Gao Tiezhu.
The court also found that Liu took advantage of his job from 1995 to 2004, embezzling public funds and property worth a total of US$2.3 million.
