CHINA. GUANGDONG COURT SENTENCES TWO TO DEATH FOR ECSTASY SMUGGLING

in its initial trial, the Foshan City Intermediate People's Court, China, sentenced Zhao Fuqiang and Ye Zhixiong to death for drug smuggling and Chen Pengfei to seven years imprisonment for his involvement in the crime. It was reported that between July and October 2004, Zhao and Ye hid ecstasy pills inside two containers of imported scrap iron and smuggled them from Rotterdam to Sanshan, Foshan city. On November 10, 2004, customs inspectors searched two containers, confiscating 380 bags with 1.8 million "ecstasy" pills weighing 452.8 kg.
