CHINA. GUANGZHOU COURT SENTENCES TWO TAIWANESE WOMEN TO DEATH

the Guangzhou City Intermediate People's Court sentenced to death two Taiwanese women, Cheng Xiuli, 36 and Cheng Mingli, 34, after convicting them of drug trafficking. It was alleged that on 11 December 2001, they planned to fly from Guangzhou City via Hong Kong to Taiwan. Guangzhou Airport inspectors arrested them confiscating 1 kg of heroin and over 100 grams of "ice".
