CHINA. HENAN XUCHANG INTERMEDIATE PEOPLE'S COURT SENTENCES 11 MEN TO DEATH FOR ORGANISED CRIME

in its initial trial, the Henan Xuchang Intermediate People's Court, China, sentenced Song Liugen, Ma Xianzhou and seven other alleged gangsters to death and sentenced Hao Hongshan and Wang Qingguo to death with two years reprieve.

The court sentenced 56 other gangsters to set terms of imprisonment. Since 1993, Song and Ma had gathered “ex-prisoners and vagrants” to dominate the cloth and fruit wholesale markets in Zhengzhou. They possessed “illegal guns and committed homicide, injury, robbery and kidnapping crimes”.
