the Shanxi Provincial Higher People's Court, China, sentenced Zheng Xiaolin, 44, to life imprisonment overturning the Taiyuan City Intermediate People's Court decision sentencing Zheng to death in 1999 for illegally digging up ancient tombs and smuggling cultural relics. It was alleged that from 1989 to 1994, Zheng dug up 12 ancient tombs in Wenxi County, stealing 67 cultural relics including bronze dagger-axes and copper "dings" (ancient cooking vessels).
