CHINA. MAN SENTENCED TO DEATH FOR KILLING PIMP

Deng Jianping was sentenced to death with a reprieve of two years by the Shanghai No. 2 Intermediate People's Court for manslaughter. It was alleged the Hunan Province native allowed his girlfriend Wang Ling to be a prostitute, giving Deng the opportunity to steal money from pimps. A pimp surnamed Wang, met Ling on May 6, 2005, and asked her to return 500 yuan (US$61) which had been stolen from him. Deng called some friends to attack the man. The pimp then asked his friend surnamed Liu, also a pimp, to help. A fight ensued in which Deng stabbed Liu in the heart, killing him.
