gang leader Qi Bing was sentenced to death for manslaughter by the Shanghai No. 1 Intermediate People's Court, China. It was alleged that Qi, 31, and six members of his gang started a quarrel in a bathhouse, killing one person and injuring three others on January 18. Yao Chunhui, 23, and Jiang Chuanfu, 38, two of Qi's accomplices, were given 15 years and 10 years in prison respectively. Four other suspects were still at large, judges said.
"We imposed a heavy punishment on all three men, especially the leader, to show the court's determination to crack down on the force of evil," said Feng Weiqiang, deputy president of the court.
