Li Gongxin, from the northeastern city of Harbin, China, was sentenced to death for killing a woman in a dispute over stock investment losses. He had agreed to advise his retired neighbour, surnamed Wang, buy stock in return for 40 percent of the profits, the Legal Daily said. But Wang lost more than 30,000 yuan (about $4,000) in less than two months. Li had agreed to repay any losses, and returned 10,000 yuan. However, when Wang asked for another 14,000 yuan he stabbed her in the chest, face and mouth, killing her instantly. Li was ordered to compensate Wang's sons 190,000 yuan in damages.
