A Chinese woman was sentenced to death in Hanoi for trying to smuggle nearly four kilograms of heroin from Vietnam to China last September.
Wang Ling Long, 25, had been caught by the Hanoi police with the drugs she was planning to take to China for 12,000 yuan (US$1,954).
Under Vietnamese law, possession of more than 0.6 kilograms of heroin is punishable by death.
Long said a black man named Johnson had hired her in May last year to carry a bag from Hanoi to China.
She arrived in a hotel on Ly Thai To Street on September 7, and the next day received the bag from a Vietnamese woman staying in the same hotel.
Johnson had ordered her to travel to Kunming by road and then fly to Beijing.
