Colonel Peter Habimana, leader of the [rebel] Rwandan Liberation Army, was sentenced to death together with another 14 defendants found guilty of involvement in the 1994 genocide.
As referred by officials in Kigali, the sentences were all in the first degree. Four defendants were sentenced to death today by the court of Cyangugu, while the court of Kibungo sentenced another six to death, including Habimana. The same verdict was issued by the court of Nyamata, against another five people.
