Connecticut residents remain solidly in favor of the death penalty, but with some reservations, a new poll shows. The Quinnipiac University poll of 910 registered voters found that although supporters of the death penalty outnumber opponents by a ratio of 2-to-1, 59 % of those surveyed said they would support a 2-year moratorium on capital punishment. Also, when asked whether the penalty for murder should be death or life in prison without the possibility of parole, respondents were almost evenly split, with 42 % for execution and 43 % for life imprisonment.
