Cook County Judge Fred Suria imposed the death penalty on Joseph Bannister, 38.
Suria imposed the death penalty shortly after a jury recommended the execution. Bannister has been convicted of shooting and wounding his former girlfriend and his daughter's mother, Sharon Banks, on Sept. 23, 2000 and then fatally shooting her sister, Henrietta Banks.
