COP IN ZAMBIA GETS DEATH SENTENCE FOR KILLING BRITON

the Zambian Supreme Court sitting in Lusaka, sentenced a policeman to death for murdering a British national, Sharon Lee Jackman, three years ago. Supreme Court Judge Timothy Kabalata sentenced Chiku Kaona, 25, to death by hanging. Kaona murdered Jackman in 2004 and robbed her of her motor vehicle, a Japanese model pickup. The killer also got away with more than US$3000 and cellular mobile phones. Kaona carried out the crime while armed with an AK-47 assault rifle that belonged to the Zambia Police Service. Judge Kabalata observed that the deceased stopped her car when flagged down by Kaona, believing she was following a lawful instruction from Kaona who was dressed in police uniform at the time of the crime. Kaona, however, proceeded to rob her before shooting her dead despite her pleas for him to spare her life.
