David Ray Duren, 37, white, was put to death by electric chair in Holman Prison, Altmore. He was pronounced dead at 00:09. He had been convicted of killing Kathleen Bedsole, a white sixteen year old in October 1983. He was the first person to be executed in the State during the year, the 20th since the State resumed executions in 1983. He was the second to be executed in the U.S. during the year and No 600 since the death penalty was re-introduced in 1976.
