Deng Chenhui, a former employee of an insurance company in north China's port city of Tianjin, was executed for embezzling 4.17m yuan (500,000 US dollars) in insurance premiums.
Deng was convicted by the Tianjin No 2 Intermediate People's Court of embezzling the money from September 1995 to April 2000 from the company. The court declined to give the name of the firm.
Some of the money had been recovered by local law enforcement department for the company, but 2.47m yuan (300,000 US dollars) was lost forever, the court said.
Deng was sentenced to death during the first-instance trial for embezzlement, and the sentence was upheld by China's Supreme People's Court.
