Denmark has resumed handing over Iraqi detainees to British forces, after receiving guarantees that no prisoners will face the death penalty. Defence Minister Søren Gade said..
"The British have said before that they don't extradite anyone without Denmark's approval. And we will add a clause to this agreement that the British cannot hand over detainees to Iraqi authorities if they risk facing the death penalty," said Gade.
Defence Minister Gade opted earlier in August to halt all handovers of Iraqi detainees to British forces, after the provisional Iraqi government passed a law reinstating capital punishment in the capital.
