Deputy Prime Minister [and Nationalist Action Party leader] Devlet Bahceli declared that those who wanted to dilute the decision passed down by the Turkish judiciary against Abdullah Ocalan on behalf of the Turkish nation should realise that their attitude was first and foremost tantamount to criticizing the Turkish nation's right of sovereignty. Bahceli stressed that those who linked the execution of the sentence passed on the terrorist leader with the future of the Turkish nation and who placed it in the same bag as Turkey's membership in the EU were erring.
