Duong Duc Son, Phung Mai Khoi, Chiem Van Beo, Le Tung Lam and Vu Thi Tien, a woman, were sentenced to death by the Ha Tinh People's Court for running a drug-trafficking network that smuggled heroin and opium into the country from Laos. They were among 13 defendants found guilty of trafficking a total of 87.3 kg of opium and 16.8 kg of heroin from Laos between 1993 and March 2002.
