During a large-scale meeting held as part of the strike-hard campaign, five Taiwanese citizens who had gone to mainland China to manufacture, smuggle and deal drugs, were sentenced to death and executed by firing squad at an execution field in Xiamen. The five, involved in separate incidents, were identified as Xu Yaocai, 33, Shi Lushan, 49, Xie Xianhui, Xu Wenjing and Chen Junxiong.
