During a mission to Jamaica, Hands off Cain met with the Commissioner of Correction John E. Prescod, who said that there are about 3,500 inmates all told in Jamaica's 7 prisons. In the maximum security prison of St. Catherine's there are 1300 detainees, 43 of whom are under death sentence. Approximately 150 inmates are in rehabilitation programs. During a meeting with attorneys Dennis Daly and Hilarie Sobers it emerged that out of 1,500 lawyers, 30 are criminal lawyers and only 10 abolitionist.
