Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew I said he had learnt with regret that the results on the case of the Bulgarian medics in Libya were not good and expressed hope that their death sentences would not be carried out. The statement was made during Patriarch Bartholomew's meeting with Bulgarian Foreign Minister Solomon Passy. Passy arrived in Istanbul on the second day of his official visit to Turkey. The Bulgarian Foreign Minister expressed gratitude for the efforts put by the Oecumenical Patriarchate in liberating the Bulgarian medics. "We have not given up and will not give up on this case until its successful outcome," Passy said.
