Egypt sentenced three men to death for murdering a man whose fiancee one of the killers wanted to marry, a court source said.
The three friends agreed to kill the victim, a taxi driver in his 20s, after the woman's family granted him her hand in marriage. One of the killers had made the same request, but was turned down.
The court sentenced the three to death by hanging, the way executions are normally carried out in Egypt.
In March 2000, the three men got the victim to drive them to an isolated spot near the pyramids near Cairo where they stabbed and beat him to death before making off with his watch and money.
The court source said the death sentence could be appealed.
