Ethiopia was a cosponsor of the amendments presented by Egypt (A/C.3/54/L.31 and L.32) and others (L.33, L.34 and L.36) to the resolution on the death penalty presented by the European Union at the 54th UN General Assembly.The Special Rapporteur on Extrajudicial, Summary or Arbitrary Executions expressed her concern over the reports of extrajudicial executions currently taking place in Ethiopia. The alleged assailants have included members of the police forces as well as members of the military (E/CN.4/1999/39/Add.1).
