fast track court in Odisha’s Jharsuguda district sentenced a man to capital punishment for strangulating a 14-year-old girl and indulging in sex with her body four years ago. The court also sentenced Seth to 10 years rigorous imprisonment and slapped a fine of Rs 3,000 for satisfying his lust on the body of the victim, assistant public prosecutor Parsuram Mohapatra said. The prosecution said that Seth had dragged the girl into a paddy field with the intent to commit rape on 9 October 2009 while she was on her way back home in Kandheikela village after serving food to her father, a farm worker. Seth strangulated the girl to death after she resisted his rape attempt and then indulged in sex with her body.
