the Federal Court of Cassation’s public authority ratified the execution of 18 death row convicts in several Iraqi provinces, a spokesman for the Supreme Judicial Council said. “Two convicts had been found guilty by a Baghdad-based Central Criminal Court of kidnapping several people," Judge Abdul Sattar Birqodar said. "Five convicts were sentenced by the Thi-Qar Criminal Court for kidnapping a person, in accordance with the provisions of the anti-terror law," Birqordar added. ‘The authority ratified a decision by Basra Criminal Court ordering the execution of two convicts, who were found guilty of murder and robbery, in addition to other court decisions in the provinces of Karbala, Diwaniya, Wassit, and Diala," the judge noted.
