Feltus Taylor, 38, black, was executed by lethal injection in Louisiana State Penitentiary. He was pronounced dead at 20:40. He had bee convicted of killing a white woman, Donna Ponsano, during a robbery at a fast food restaurant on 27th March 1991. He was the first and only convict to be put to death in the State during the year, and the 26th since the State re-introduced the death penalty in 1983. He was the 42nd to be put to death in the U.S. during the year and No 640 since the death penalty was re-introduced in 1976.
