Inoue Yoshihiro was sentenced to life in prison for his role in the 1995 nerve gas attack Tokyo's subway. The judge said that the court didn't give him the death penalty because Inoue expressed regret over his crimes. "We have chosen to give him life imprisonment because he has suffered from a guilty conscience after understanding the pain felt by the (sarin attack) victims," the judge said.
