Fighting was reported in the Palestinian territory of Gaza after three Israeli tanks entered the town of Beit Janun in an apparent operation to arrest Palestinian activists, Palestinian police said.
Brig. Abdel Rezak al-Mayaide, the public security commander in Gaza, said the Israelis executed two people after they were wounded along with two other people. An Israeli military spokesman denied the report and said the two were killed by a tank shell.
