Five men convicted on various counts of kidnapping, raping and robbing children were executed, in various places across China, on the eve of Children's Day. Zhang Yong was found guilty of abducting 12 children from Southwest China's Guizhou Province and taking them to East China's Fujian and Guangdong provinces, while Huang Shengzhao and Huang Shenggui, together with accomplices, were convicted of stealing 15 children from Jiangxi Province and taking them to Fujian. The court found that 23-year-old Bu Xiaogang buried five-year-old Han Dong alive after Han's father recognized the kidnapper's voice on the phone. The child died. However, Bu was not charged with murder, as the court already had enough evidence against him to support his conviction. Du Honghong, 28, a farmer from North China's Shanxi Province, was executed for raping 10 girls from the same primary school on two separate occasions.
