for killing Kay Peckat, 52, and Chandler Simpson, 59, Odell Corley will pay with his own life.
The jury sentenced Corley to death for killing Peckat and Simpson and paralyzing Keith Hill in an attempted bank robbery at The Pines branch of The First State Bank of Porter on Aug. 27, 2002.
The death sentence marks the 1st death penalty case heard in the history of the Northern District of Indiana federal court system. There are 33 men on federal death row in Terre Haute.
U.S. District Judge Rudy Lozano read the 50 pages of verdict forms.
Corley, also known as Nasih Ra’id or Naish Ra'id, will be formally sentenced on Dec. 15.
Former co-defendants Edward Johnson and Andre McGregor testified that they were involved in the robbery with Ra'id and that he was the trigger man.
Johnson, 32, and McGregor, 29, each pleaded guilty for their roles in the crime in exchange for leniency.
