Foreign Office Minister Peter Hain welcomed the adoption of the European Union's resolution on the death penalty at the Commission on Human Rights. Mr Hain said:
"I am delighted that the Commission on Human Rights has adopted the EU's draft resolution on the death penalty. The resolution underlines once again the growing international consensus against capital punishment. The death penalty will remain a central issue in Britain's human rights policy. We urge the end of capital punishment in law and in practice."
