four brothers found guilty of committing the murder of a Police sergeant by assaulting him with clubs during a police raid on an illicit liquor den at Hiriwadunna were sentenced to death by Kegalle High Court Judge Menaka Wijesundera. Pathirannehelage Podi Ralahamy alias Podde, Pathrennehalage Jayasekara Banda, Pathirennehelage Jayaratne were indicted with committing the murder of Police Sergeant W G Sunil Walpitagamage and injuring three other constables (Rajapaksa (PC 30453), Ranasinghe (PC 51215) and Ranasinghe (PC 52167) of Kegalle Police by assaulting them with clubs during a raid on an illicit liquor den on November 16, 2008.
