Four people were given death sentences, suspended for two years, and 30 others were jailed for up to life in a case involving a huge amount of illegal caffeine, state media reported. The sentences were handed down at the Heilongjiang Railway Intermediate People's Court in China's north-eastern Heilongjiang province, Xinhua news agency said. According to the court, the fraud, involving 94 tons of caffeine, was the biggest drug case in the province's history. It was reported that since 1991, Si Bingzhong, Sun Weimin and 32 other people belonging to four businesses manufactured and sold the caffeine, earning about four million yuan (482,000 dollars).
