Four persons were hung at the Gujrat District Jail. Brothers Mohammad Afzal and Muhammad Akhtar, and another two brothers Khan Muhammad and Asghar had murdered four persons due to old enmity in Dinga in 1990. They were sentenced to death by the Additional Sessions court in Gujrat in August 19, 1992. The Lahore High Court and the Supreme Court rejected their mercy petitions. President Muhammad Rafiq Tarar also rejected their mercy petition on February 25, 2000. They were to be hanged on March 3, 2000, but their relatives obtained a three-week stay order for reconciliation. The bodies of the deceased were handed over to their relatives.
