Four women with little education were convicted of forming a "pyramid association" to collect money by fraud and illegally absorbing deposits from the public amounting to nearly 200m yuan. Xiang Aju, head of this association, was sentenced to death by the Taizhou Municipal Intermediate People's Court in Zhejiang; Shao Pufang , the deputy head of the association was also sentenced to death for the same crimes. The other leading members of the association were either given the death sentence with a reprieve or life imprisonment.
