Nigerian rights group Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) appealed to the African Union (AU) to prevail on Libya not to execute 14 Nigerians said to be on death row in the North African nation. The appeal, conveyed in a letter to AU Chairman and Libyan leader Mouammar Kadha ffi expresses concern that the Nigerians might not have received fair trial, and it urged the AU to clarify whether the Nigerians had competent and effective legal representation; right to trial within a reasonable time or to a release and other related rights."
