Guidry again sentenced to death in 1994 slaying Howard Paul Guidry, 30, showed no emotion as visiting Judge Doug Shaver read the sentence. Jurors had convicted him Feb. 22 of capital murder in the Nov. 9, 1994 shooting of Farah Fratta.
Guidry was convicted and sentenced to death in 1997, but on Sept. 27, 2003 (see) U.S. District Judge Vanessa Gilmore tossed out the conviction, saying Guidry had been tricked into confessing and that hearsay evidence in his 1st trial may have contributed to his conviction.
Investigators said the victim's husband, Robert Fratta, arranged his 33-year-old wife's murder. The couple was going through a bitter divorce and custody battle for their 3 children, who were 3, 6 and 8 at the time.
Fratta hired Joseph Prystash, who hired Guidry.
Robert Fratta and Prystash are on death row for their roles in the killing.
