HC CONFIRMS DEATH SENTENCE OF ONE, ACQUITS 2 IN DEATH ROW

the Indian High Court confirmed the death sentence of a MA Kader and life imprisonment of his wife Runa Kader, but acquitted his two brothers-in-law. Rushdania Islam Bushra, 18, was killed after being raped by the convicts in her house at Hajipara in the city on July 1, 2000. In acquitting the two convicts, the court said the prosecution had failed to prove that on the night of the murder the brothers-in-law, Sheikh Shawkatul Ahmed and Sheikh Kabir Ahmed, were present in the house.
